just a few GQ questions not in bible...

i was just wondering if any 1 knows the points gap for the 4.2L petrol GQ 88

and what timming it should run

didnt see anything in there about carbie tuning eather.. any info would be apreachated


also wondering what sort of few econemy are people getting...

last fuel stop i got 267km out of 56 L ( i did playi nthe mud for a few hr tho )

but still i got told my mates GQ got 480 in town and 650ks down free way
give or take 30ks

the timing specs should be on a sticker ontop of the rocker cover mate

oh another thing.

in terms of carbie starting point for mixtures how many turns out it is from being wound all the way in anyone have a ruff estimate at what it right ammount of turns out for right mixture?>

goto supercheap and buy a gregorys manual for the GQ, $20.00 answers it all for u

GQ TB42 Carby,

Ignition timing: 9 -11 deg @ 600-700 RPM (with the dissy vac line disconnected and plugged)

Spark plug leads max resistance: 30k ohm

Point gap: 0.45-0.55 mm

Dwell angle: 34-40 deg

Spark plug type and gap: NGK BP5ES @ 0.8 -0.9 mm

Idle mixture: 1.0 -2.0 % CO

Valve clearances (motor hot): 0.38mm

ok that helps heeps

but without the gauges for fuel/air mix anyone able to tell me roughly how to get it right?
