hey fellas
just fitted the front locker, new swivel hub kit, and used the old wheel bearings, ive packed the hubs partially but not heaps, and im getting really hot hubs, after hard driving in 2wd with hard braking you can bearly touch them, and on a normal drive on road, with normal braking they are still hot, the rotors seem to be the hottest, ive also fitted new dba front rotors and ferodo pads, any advice will be apprieciated

well, you pretty much pinpointed what i would do next, wheel bearings, not that expensive, i payed 72ish a side from CBC in melb, otherwise check your brakes aren't rubbing for any reason.

How much drag on the wheel? Jack up each side and spin the wheel. Should be reasonably easy to turn and not stop suddenly after you spin it. If they're difficult to turn, look at brakes first (just remove the callipers to check) then wheel bearings. There should be a bit of resistance, but not enough to grab at the wheel.

With that out of the road, go for a drive at speed, and try not to use the brakes. Use the gears to slow down, and coast to a stop. Then check the hubs.

Mine can range from too hot to touch to stone cold, just from how heavy I am on the brakes during a trip.

mine are the same as you describe, go to lock in hubs come away with 3rd degree burns.

I have new wheelbearings the works.

apparently overpacking them is an issue, but Ive tried shit loads of different things, never changed :(

thanks fellas, i checked 5 GQ hubs today on the road and they were all the same temp, no probs, just one of those nissan things(bless their cotton socks!)
