Buying a Vitara

We are looking at buying a Vitara as a second 4wd. Atm, I am looking at an early 90's soft top manual. Is there anything that I should be looking out for? How much difference does the efi make over the carby? I guess it has been a long time since I have had a carby car and not sure I want to go back to one.

thanks in anticipation

Hi,

This post is in the bible and seems to relate to your question:

I guess it depends what you want to do with your 4WD. I recently (June) bought a 1991 EFI Vitara wagon that I am building up as a tourer.

Parts are OK to get with lots in wreckers and plenty available at parts shops.

Carbies tend to be chaeper to play with than EFI but dont like really steep angles as much.

If you ask anyone one here should you buy a Suzuki the answer is yeas and the question is only what model!

Cheers

thanks for the reply. This will be a second 4WD for us, used mainly as a shopping trolley and as a toy when just out for a play.
I guess what I am after is things that I need to look out for when I am looking at vitara's?

Thats what I bought my Vitara for. Our main 4WD is a new Hyundai Terracan which tows our caravan and is the main family car. I just get nervous about fording rivers and scraping trees in a $40k 4WD. The Vitara was a cheap car to overcome these issues.

The main problem with it is getting the Vitara away from the wife long enough to play with it.

Suspension lift, bullbar and a general tidy up and shes going a treat.

Cheers
