4WD... HELP!!

Hey guys,

In a late 1993 Rocky RV (2.8 intercooled TD), I locked the hubs in and pushed the 4H button on the dash but the 4WD light didn't come on. The rear wheels were still only driving and no 4WD..

We got out and wiggled the hubs and locking mechanisms a little and the light on the dash came on and away we went with 4WD...

Is this a common problem / is it anything major?? Is it anything to do with the 4H engagement being a push button rather than a lever?

Thanks, Nick

Most free wheeling hubs need to be serviced occasionally due to water or just lack off use. This is a fairly easy job for some one with basic mechanical Knowledge. Remove the hubs & clean them & LIGHTLY grease the free wheeling hub & reassemble. Take your time as I did mine & regreased the wheel bearings at the same time in under 2hrs per side.

Thanks for the replies guys, much appreciated...

If it happens again i might check the vacuum lines as mentioned because I've just had the hubs off to change all the CV boots, so they should be fine.
