Aint seen any photos of a GQ body and chassis separated on the forum you know like you see with Landrovers. Do any of you guys do this? Or do you never fully restore the GQ from ground up. Maybe the chassis doesn`t rust enough in your country.

We don't need salt on the roads to get rid of snow... funny you should mention it thoughas this week I just removed and swapped 2 boddies on my MQ/MK patrol.... not a small task though!

Course the thing is a Landy body can be taken off in sections bolted together and I suppose thats what is unique about them. I`m cutting rust out of my 94GQ chassis and just wondered if body came up and off in case it gets any worse. Does anyone ever put a new chassis on the GQ?
Christ I wouldn`t like to price one off the barstewards.

Can't say with GQ's as I onl;y ever had a ute.

However from what I read its the same- body lifts off if you undo everything properly etc.... Replace chassis?> I don't envy you mate.... move to Australia or something - probably cheaper and quicker hey ;)

With suitably rated lifting equipment, theres no reason you couldnt lift the body off the chassis. Unlike the Landrover, you cant unbolt various sections on the Nissan body--its all welded construction. To repair broken body mounts/channels, this might be the only way....

If my truck is to stay on the road more than another say 4 or 5 yrs I think thats what will have to be done. It aint easy to just go out and buy another GQ as there`s not many and what you find has been affected by salt. The Toyota 80 series seems to stand up to this climate a lot better. Just wondered what the sequence would be for a body off strip on GQ?

I know how you feel, the GQ rusts like nothing i have seen before. I know that many has replaced the back half of the frame on the SWB due to rust ...

I havent heard of it before i found outerlimits ....
We use pava, dinitrol, tectrol or stuff like that ...
I have thought about galvanizing? the frame of mine ... but alot of work and money has to go into that ... hmm .... maybe the next one :lol:
