well all my links and stuff have been ordered from a mr dobbin down sydney way, and im about to place an order for a couple of custom handmade diffs comin from the states, just curious if i should go 4-wheel steer or not??? he can make them however i want, so im really tempted to say yes
i know it'd be really cool to have, and i know deep down id like it, i was just wondering what you all think, it will be used mainly for real hardcore offroad use and as many comps as i can get into
BUT!!!!! it WILL see a fair bit of road use too, so i know it can be done, but how secure, and what is the best way to pin it for road use as well
whatta ya's all think??? all advice good or bad is very welcome

maxi-drive on the gold coast can build portal axle rear steer units using rover diffs. Mal has built a few rear steer standard diffs(not portal) one went to france and is on a defender 130 which has a salsbury 8ha, very similar to a d60. he also has rear steer on his own vehicle which is a dd and road registered in QLD.
i know that it can only be used in low range, is controled by a joy stick, is hydro, does not return, BUT when high range is engaged it locks into straight ahead postion
as to why a hylux diff would not be strong enough in a rear application. why??? if its going in a lite rig and ran longfield 4340 cv's would this be up to the task???
cheers, Serg

why dont you believe me???
strength wont be an issue, its not gunna be using cv's, will have knuckles on it
uninformed - how did it automatically lock out when it engaged high range, sounds like the ideal set-up, just curious how it worked
