Outer Limits 4x4 Board

After finally mounting the bull bar i've had sitting around for ages... i can also install the antennas for both my am and uhf two ways. Just wondering whether there is a minimum distance i should keep between the antennas to ensure their best performance????


ANy other tips would be good too... especially for the uhf as i've never mounted uhf antenna before

I wouldn't bother with the AM

my old man has mounted his antena's on the base of the bull bar on each side
if that makes sence

Usually need to be a 1/4 length away from each other at least to avoid interference etc...

So, which ever is the longest divided by 4.

If the longest antenna measures a meter, then the antenna bases need to be at least 25cm apart.

Also avoid running the coax cable together, as in taped or cable tied together. Also avoid running them near vehicle computers and any major vehicle cable loom or main engine fuse block.

I had a suped up radio that would make the head lights glow when I transmitted because the coax ran near the lighting loom.

Also be careful with RF burn, in other words don't touch the antenna or base when transmitting. Can be nasty!

Telstat sorted out issues I had with mine, they were too close together. Now 1 each side of the bullbar.

But as said, dont waste your time with 27meg, it just aint worth it.

if youve gotta have both definantly put them either side of the bullbar.

The further apart they are the less they will intefere with eachother. Ideally you would have thgem about 25metres apart.

I have tried to have them as far apart as I could.
In reality when I moved them to about 200mm apart I have found no broblems.
One each side of unright.
