Are auto and manual rangie starter moters the same ? I think mine has died and i have a manual rangie that i could borrow the starter from untill i get it rebuilt . Or will a p76 4.4 starter fit a 3.5 rangie ?

P76 starter has a larger dia spigot and wont fit a rover engine.

I have never had anything to do with auto rangies, but would be very surprised if the starter is different. The starter mounts to the engine block so there is no difference there.

G`day Nick , the P76 won`t go on as Bush65 says .

Other than physical size of earlier Starters ( extractors ) they will all interchange .

3.5/3.9/4.0/4.6 will interchange no difference between auto and manual .

All the best , peter .

My manual describes 2 different starters.
An M45, and a 3M100PE.

Don't know what is different about them, but I have the M45 on my 4.4 (with no spacers & strenthening gizmoes othere say I need).
