If your diff center has a collpsable collar you will almost certainly change the preload as the flange thickness will be different between the 2 flanges.

just swap it. undo the centre bolt, swap the flange for a gq one and put the nut back on. tighten it till it almost starts binding and back it off till it is free and then a tad more to allow for room when it heats up. I had to do mine for the same reason

Doesnt use a collapsible shim.
Undo, replace, do up TIGHT.
If left loose it will rock on the splines and wear out.

THIS IS THE BEST WAY TO DO IT THE BEARINGS ARE SHIMED AND THE NUT NEEDS TO BE TIGHT.

Bru it is possably a GQ flange as the Rd28T had diffrent flange bolt patter to the 4.2s Silly thing is the 2.8 tail shafts from a visual are bigger than the 4.2s but smaller bolts and pattern to the flange All you need to do mav is whats been said undo the bolt with a rattle gun lightly tap the flange and change it to one off a 4.2
