I wanna lower the comp. on my modified RD28T in order to run more boost safely.
Can get specialmade Venolia pistons, do I get any trouble when going from std. 21,3 to, let`s say 19:1 or 18:1.
I have read somewhere that they lower the comp on 6.5TD Chevs to around 18:1 using pistons from a Peninsular marine engine.
Have seen some shaving off the piston top on TD42 too.
What do you guys think?

go with a bigger engine to start with...
If your going to go to that sort of hassle and cost, go with something like a 350chev, or 289, or 308/7/4 or even a worked 253

Yeah I know, probably been cheaper and better, but I am not intersted in petrol engines, I have spend to much on this engine allready to ditch it., Big IC, turbo, propane-kit, Daikin clutch, stainless exhaust 3", and 12mm plunger which costs $$$$. I could use most of the parts on a TD42, but they are not easy to find, (RD28T was the only option in my country), and some hazzle with emission to get it legal.bogged wrote:go with a bigger engine to start with...

I wouldnt be shaving the piston tops if you can help it...... Thinner piston tops + higher combustion pressure (due to turbo) sounds like a bad option.
Of course, with 20:1 compression you youldnt need to take very much off so it may just be ok. But it isnt what I'd do.
If you needed to shave, you'd be better off shaving material out of the combustion chamber itself and not the pistons.
