Problems with prados with bullbars fitted?

My sister just bought a new 3litre TD prado and she got mr toyota to fit a arb bullbar on the sucker. I noticed when I took it for a spin that the bull bar shakes a hell of alot. I have already check for loose bolts etc but I vaguly remember reading somewhere or maybe a conversation that the new prados have a bit of a problem with bullbars cracking mounts somewhere around the front end mainly when used on rough dirt roads over long distances.
As I said, This is just half remembered stuff so if anyone has any details it would be great.
Cheers

Are you sure it's not just the car body you're seeing move around on it's chassis mounts? Mine appeared to do the same thing, but stop the car, get out and try to move the bar - mine wouldn't budge.

This was mentioned in an article in 4wd Monthly a short while ago. The article was written by John Rooth, in it mentioned cracking radiator support panel with fitted bullbars. You could try asking on
www.lcool.org.au, as they seem to have a lot of info on the new 120 series Prado. Cheers Matt.

My understanding is that the body on the new 120 Prado sits on fairly large/long rubber body mounts. When you mount a bullbar on the Prado (to the chassis), it will appear that the bullbar is actually lose or shaking, when in fact it is the body moving on the body mounts.
As said above by JIMSAQ, it is the body moving not the bar. The body mounts have too much give.

My thoughts is it's a waste of a good bullbar fitting it to a Prado.

Thanks for the info.
And its not really a waste of time on the prado as she is driving from Melbourne to Brisbane out to cullamulla straight west though the alice then up to Broome, then out to timber creek via the kimberlies up to Darwin for some Barra fishing, Across to Nullanboy then around to Bagal Beach just north of Townsville, then back home to Melbourne. This trip is taking her 10 weeks to do.
I am doing the trip too so can't wait until it starts.
