52's will be a Reality in oz in 2003....

Also 40" Mtr, Krawlers etc...

Also, the reports frgom SEMA suggest most US companies are no longer manufacturering BeadLocked Wheels due to liability concerns, and the trend is expected to follow to Australia.

Stay tuned....

I have heard of the 52's but only in talk, it came from the same person that told me of a 40inch+ MTR and it turns out they were right about that.

I also remember reading in petersens 4wheel and offroad about the new range of swampers that were set to come out in 2003 (USA) and they too mentioned a 52 inch tyre, now it could have all been in the pipe line and the whole jobbie canned somewhere along the line but i personally believe that there will be a 52 available with in the next 2 years.

And your mate is full of shit about the beadlocks, and considering most australian used beadlocks are made here i cant see how the US companys are going to much affect, if anything it is going to be a wider export market for australian wheel manufactures. I believe that you will still be able to buy beadlocks in the US as a kit or purpose built of road rim as there is a far wider market than just 4x4ing. Desert race trucks, rally cars, tractors etc.
Also, you will find that most wheel manufactors here cut roll and tap there own rings, it would only be the bigger companys, procomp, TRS, Weld and champion that come into the country already fitted with the locks, so yes, if they were to stop manufacturing them these US companys would be affected.

just my 2 cents

pro comp no longer make beadlocks along with a host of other wheel makers. there is only 3or 4 major wheel companies still producing beadlocks in the US. :!:

the MTR, will be 37x12.5 r15
40x13.5 R17

the boggers could become a reality....but i know nothing

Not sure I'd bother witha 52" bogger - I meant there are some pretty mean offorad truck tyres already available in that size ( & MUCH bigger)

Imagine these meats under your Lada...
Image
Size ranging from 46" to 56" and ranging form 8 to 16ply.....
A quick hunt around shows other offroad tyres upto 140"

BJ,
They don't list weight....But for an example of pure size, get your head around these numbers....
140"x44" on 57x29"rim (That's a bit of meat 3.5m high x 1.1m wide)
Gross contact area is 1460" (Thas what - 9.4m)..
93 revolutions/km
2½" tread depth
But these specs are from a pussy 2ply ;)

All I know is - I'd hate to have to change a flat...worse unload the spare....

Those Goodyears look like a Bobcat tire.

Those are called 'tractor tyres'.... They are Big, have Big Lugs, and are Cheap (for their size, we get 33's for under $100), but are not speed rate and can easily pop off a rim ;)

We have 4 Tractor tyres on our XD Falcon Mudracer and Roly has 4 on his Pajero for Mud Racing...

They do a good burnout on the road though :o

I've tried to track these down b4 and found they are hell expensive, where do you get them cheap from???

Leslies Tyres in Brooklyn Vic.

They re 33" and fit a 16x6 rim, he also had some 34" too...

We got some 31" for the front to go on the factory 14x5 Falcon rims

He also has some Monster Bar tread tyres that have the Jungle Trekker I tread pattern (which is when the Simex 4x4 Tyre Design came from)

These are 'ag tread', for REAL soupy mud, i recommend the 'Rice Tread' as the lugs are more square and wider.

So to run the 52"s you need:

1. 454, V10 Viper, or Cummins/Duramax/Powerstroke
2. Rockwells with 2" Chromo stuff
3. NV5600 or Allison
4. Staks or Atlas
5. 3" DOM tube frame
6. 10mm thick double beadlocks
7. dual coil overs per corner
8. 5 links at least
9. HUGE gaz tank
10. anything thing else?
