Asking for a mate, also asked in auto elec.

Whats involved in converting an MQ/MK 24volt diesel into 12 volt?

He has two trucks one is 12v and other is 24v. so should have all necessary parts (starter, alternator etc). How big a job is it?

Cheers Adam

I will be able to help more once I have finished mine (hope to be this weekend)

I have stripped on loom out and putting my 12V loom in - I have, with the aid of a brilliant tool (mud13s - well he did most of it with a mashed hand after I gave him a rap over the knuckles with a 4 inch grinder) stripped out all the wiring down to the heater and pedal boxes and yes, even the steering column - I colour coded most of it and should have it all installed by end of this weekend - its just the rear section I have to figure out now.

Keep you updated.

What are youy going to have a go at? the witring or giving your mate a rap over the knuckles with a grinder??? ;)

Suggest wiring rather than grinding.....

Ive done the conversion twice now, but not only going from 24 to 12 volt deisel......
ive gone from 24 volt diesel to 12 volt twin battery LPG/Petrol V8....

so if you have any dramas with the conversion with wiring itself without the plain swap over stuff shoot me a PM...

also if you check out my rig in the members section i believe i have listed all teh things needed to change to convert over to 12 volt also.

cheers

Screwy ;)
