any one have any ideas why my gq 4.2 diesel patrol might be over heating? I know a 7 inch lift and 35's wouln't help much but someones got to have solved this problem before. It only happens on long up hills.around town and offroad is ok even on hot days.
many thanks guys.

You might just have to drop back a gear going up hills and so on.

Mate I had the same problem, the rad and cooler in front of it was full of crap and knackered, had it recoed and all cleaned up, now the guage hardly moves once its warm no matter what I do. I would start by pulling it out and giving it a close inspection to see if its stuffed. Hope that helps!

may be slight overfueling, maybe patially blocked radiator, maybe viscus hub isnt working right, thermostat sticking, could be a number of things,
and the 7" lift, is it springs only, or do you have bodylift in as well?

its a 6 inch spring lift with a 30mm coil spacer. took me about 1h to fit, all the angles etc seem to be fine and there is no vibrations or anything like that. I wanted the option of being able to lower it for a trip to fraser or something like that.

i was asking about the lift as some people have dramas on diesels with 2" body lift, not evryone has them but some people i know have,
is there anything you have tried to fix your cooling problem?

have replaced viscous fan, flushed radiator and renewed hoses. think some of the fins on the radiator are damaged, so it might need recoring. hopefully, that should fix it.
i want to fit a snorkle for obvious reasons. plus, i have been told that it will make the engine run a little bit cooler.
