Replacement Motor 60series

Post by vanzbrown »

Just wondering out of the Chevy V8's big block or small block, which would be the motor of choice as a replacement when the old diesel gives way in the cruiser...

Went to willowglen the other day and there was a truck there with what sounded like a diesel jet  Man that thing was loud and the power it had...phenomenal. What do you guys reckon it was and could I get a big V8 diesel into my 60 (I reckon that may have been what was under the hood).

There seems to be a fair few guys around on forums with the 6.2L/6.5L TD Chev Engines in 60's. Seems to have cost them like $10000+! I can't justify spending that much but, I'm sure it'd be worth it tho ;)

I own 2 60's..... 1 stocko and one "slightly" modified.

My toy is a 6.2 non turbo'd V8 diesel, SOA, f+r lockers, ARB bar, sliders, snorkel... ohhh, and a lil bit of panel damage too.... hehee

In my opinion, I looked at get'n my stocko converted before I bought the toy, just not worth it I reckon. But I picked the toy up for a steal and couldn't let it go. The engine conversion itself was worth nearly twice what I paid for the whole truck as is, so I reckon I got a bargain!!!

But the power they have is awesome compared to the 2H, feels like driving a petrol powered rig with plenty of balls. If you can pick one up for the right price I'd have a look at it, but then again, you got to weigh in the factor of rising fuel costs too..... I'm just glad it's not my daily driver!!!
When in doubt..... UTE-ERIZE it!!!
