HELP!!! F#*%ing cone washers!!!

mornin,
i need to remove the front diff off my hilux,i have got the hub cover of fine but i am now down to the fun job of removing the cone washers. i have soaked them in wd-40 all day yesterday and have been belting them with a drift and hammer but they will not budge.
ive tried hitting the hub but it is having no effect at all
so does anybody have any tips to get these bastards out??

remove your rear tailshaft, put the nuts back on the axle studs on the front loosely leave them at least a full turn off the cone washers) and take it for a drive in front wheel drive. a 10 minute tour will have them all loose.\

hit it on one side till it breaks away and put a big flat head screw driver to lever that side while hitting the other side and they pop off

That is truly a novel idea, Brian

I'll try that one of these days on a landcruiser that hasn't had its drive flanges removed since it left Japan 15 years ago.

ok get a hammer and a shit socket extension bar, place the extenstion bar onto the emd of the stud with the bad cone washer and then belt it with a hammer, the cone washer sould pop out then, it may take a few hits

You should use a brass drift if your going to hit the studs. A short, focused, very hard wack should get them off (like Mr Miyagi with the nail into wood), you need to shock them out of place. Hitting the side of the hub will just dent it, but this will also work...

pice off tube over them and hit it works well
