I have seen on some lifted vits that a driveshaft spacer is fitted in the rear. Some manufacturers recommend this on lifts above 2". My understanding of the geometry of the rear suspension is that lifting the rear causes the much shorter trailing arms to droop and actually push the driveshaft further into its splines on the transmission.? Have i got this wrong or am i missing something. this would be true for longer trailing arms but i cant see it if yor rig has the original ones as most do.

if you are talking about a standard set up, and just adding lift through coils etc, then no, the slip yoke will pull out with more lift.

think about the upper control arm, its short, from diff to chassis, so when lifted, it will go 'under' which will push the pinion down. this upper control arm is pretty much what decides the angle of the pinion, thats why the upper control arm in the calmini 3" kit is adjustable.

this is the same as running a stock upper arm, with longer lower trailing arms.

i have about 3" sus lift, and the rear slip yoke is actually about 20-30mm out of the gearbox, or from standard. i havent measured properly, this is just judging by eye. so a 15mm driveshaft spacer would be good, but i have off set my ball joint spacer to tilt the pinion up, and push the slip yoke back into the gear box.

i hope we are talking about the same thing here.
