TD42 Info needed ...

I have been searching thru different posts and cant find what i am looking for ..


1: When was the TD42 fitted with lighter pistons and rods ?

2: When did it come as a factory turbo ?

3: What are the factory rated outputs of it with and without turbo ?

2: in the first GU TD42

3: no idea.. someone will chip in... think its 90 kw and torque ??? for non turbo..

thats the specs on the new patrol, doesn't have and output on a N/A diesel. i assume there not selling them anymore, but im preety sure mine has stamped somewhere that its 98 kW

Correct. No more non turbos and the rumour mill says the end is getting o so close for the TD42 :cry:

commen rail 4.7 L turbo is what i have heard about with over 200 kws........i wont be sad :armsup:

I too have heard that rumour but not from Nissan.

Factory turbo GQ's were released in Japan from August 1993, which coincided with the change to lighter rods and pistons in the non-turbo engines. We saw a few here in NZ in those early years, but they didn't really take off until 1995-1996 or so.
