NH Pajero auto overheatng

Hi fellas- the temperature light on my V6 Pajero auto would come on after hour or so of normal driving and the oil was very dirty, so I had it serviced couple of weeks ago.
The mechanic said it needed a flush as well, which he did.
The auto temp light still comes on after an hour or so of driving, even on freeway, so I have to stop and let cool down for 10mins.
I'm going to take it back to the guy but was wondering what others experiences with their autos have been. I don't want him telling me I need to spend more than I have to.
BTW it appears to have been way overfilled with oil- it reads like 3-4 cms above hot mark (when cold).
Thanks for any input.
Josh.

first thing if there is that much oil in it i'd be dumping the sump before i drove it anywhere (and of course fill it back up with the right amount, check your service manual for capicty).
Also check all your hoses for leaks, maybe cooling system dry? you can get it pressure tested, quite simple and cheep.

Thanks Myagi. Apparently the auto temp sensor is faulty, and there are leaks around the flexible hoses, which I am replacing asap. The oil level was ok- I didn't realise the engine had to be running b4 checking the level.
However, the centre console had a lot of heat coming from it after an hours driving so all may not be well but will attend to above first.
