Benefits of a 3" pipe on a N/A TD42??

Hi.
As you can gether from the title, I'm looking at going to a three inch pipe.
I personally think there will be benefit over the standard system.
I have already removed the standard silencers and put in straight through ones as a cheap alternative when i first got the vehicle. That made a small diffference at high rev's.
Now it's time to go 3"
What i want to know:
Is there room between the diff and floor with the bump stops at standard height and no body lift?? (100mm sus lift is all i have)
Has any one run the pipe out side the chassis rails and had it exit behind the front doors?? (SWB - I realise it would require costom header pipes at the very least)
3" of pipe hanging out the rear end is quite big, any sugestions of ways to tuck it out of the way?? ( so far i have thought of going to a Rectangular section at the tail piece, and exiting at the side just behind the rear wheel arch or staying with the round, and cutting on a shallow angle back under the vehicle so the top of the pipe is just out past the rear bumper and the bottom of the pipe is back under the vehicle by 50 to 100mm. staying with the round could be done at the rear or at the side behind the gaurd. Behind the gaurd would be less likely to get wacked right??)
Any thoughts constructive or otherwise welcome
Cheers,
Pete.
