From what i've heard the mongrels are a good cheap, agressive tyre. but compared to simex they hardly compare as they are not as thick and tread depth on the simex is about twice as much. If you're on a budget they look like a good tyre but if you want to compete simex are the way to go..........

Apparently the sidewalls are also a weak point, so i imagine that they would be suited to lighter vehicles :?

They have no sidelugs at all. they are same as Pede in the middle, and sides Zippo tread.

they also have a 33 now

It might look to some as though they have sidewall tread, but they're just poofy little lugs (calling them bumps would be more accurate), not really any tread to speak of. I certainly couldnt see it contributing to performance offroad in a real world situation.

As for the tread itself being the same as a 'pede, i'm positive the tread on the 'pedes is a lot deeper than that of the mongrels.

Having said that i still think the mongrels are pretty good value on a lightweight rig.

I dont know anything about the Mongrels other than the side wall is only as strong as the doner case. Remember these are re-moulded tyres not new.

While the mongrels might seems cheap at first - when you replace 'em after the thrid trip becuase of a torn sidewall they aren't so cheap any more.....Go the real deal IMHO....
