tyre question and engine cap question

I've splashed out and bought a 2nd hand set of 4 235/70 Hankook tyres to replace my 195/75's.
Am I OK to use my 195 as a spare, or would it damage the transmission if I ran it along side the 235's?
Also, I went to top up the water for my wipers this morning, and noticed the engine cap (where you put the oil in) was missing. I looked around the engine and found it wedged between a few cables.
Has anyone else experienced this?

havent had it happen to me but i'd be dropping the oil before you drive it just in case there is water in there

If the 195 is only a spare and you dont engage 4WD when using it, there wont be too much trouble.. just a bit of height difference

it depends really.
if you run the 195/75 ont he back alongside the other tire, you'll be putting alot of stress on the rear axle/diff. front end will have no problems as long as you dont engage 4wd as the front end is independent of eachother. so if you have a flat in the back, take the same size front tire and put it on the back and put the spare on the front.

Thanks for that. I just hope I don't get any punctures.
The oil cap problem still worries me. I don't know how long I was running with no cap. There was a fair amount of oil on the under side of the hood, althouh the oil levels were OK.
Oh well, I'm due for an oil change soon anyway. Guess I'll just keep an eye on the cap - make sure it's nice and tight.
