tappets... L28

got to do the tappets in my L28 tonight.. dont know what they are or what to do... does it eaven have them? but yeh, got a my mechanics coming around (friends who are apprentice mechanics) and they will do them... so what do the need to be set on? (do they have to be set on something?) ect....
any specs or stuff for them?
sorry... but i have no idea, and need help.

They do have tappets...
they are set using a feeler guage, im not sure what the guage setting is, but its the same for all of them.....
basically just set them and it gets rid of the ticking noise coming from your motor.....

What ya looking for ........
Valve Clearance HOT
Intake - 0.25mm
exhaust - 0.30mm
and while ya are at it, check these too .....
Ignition Timing and idle speed
- 8 degrees at 650 RPM for manual trans
- At Idle Co % 2.0
Point Gap
-0.45 to 0.55mm
Dwell Angle
- 35 degrees to 41 degrees

thanks... sorry i didnt know that it was also called valve clearances.

I didnt know what the hell a "tappet" was up untill about 15 years ago either !!!!!
always known it as valve clearance, valves, lifters ( hydrolic / solid ), push rods, rockers, roller rockers.......
you name it ............. but "tappets" .... WTF
guess its just a case of who taught ya !

technically "tappets" should only refer to clearances on lifters.... not when the clearance is set from directly off the valve rocker arm.
Anyway... you now have what you need so I wont confuse you by telling you in thou
