Charge and Brake Light staying on

Hey guys

these two lights are staying on didnt start the first 2 times after they stayed on but third time they did sorry if this is a double post

any ideas?

HI Jason. Have a look through the FAQ thread and read some of the alternator posts. Usually it's a sign of the alternator brushes being worn out.

(BTW I just updated the FAQ to include your symptoms - you'd probably already checked them and found nothing relevant ;) )

i used to get that sometimes after i went through mud/water.... hasnt happened in ages, and i havent done anything to fix it :? :D

as murcod suggested, id say your brushes need replacing. id get these checked before u go replacing the alternator.

if youv been through any mud of late the brushes could have mud in them and may just need a clean.(happened to a mates toyota)

yer my battery light stays on apart from that there is no problems

Yes, your alternator brushes need replacing. About a half hour job if you have a soldering iron. It does happen when fording deep water.
