Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi there, I recently bent the drag link on my rover into a nice u shape ( running 38's) I managed to straighten it and drive a bit further but then it just buckled again. I was going to straighten it again and reinforce it and I was wondering whats the best way to temper the steel first to give it some integrity again? .....that concludes my lecturette

grab your self abucket of old/new oil and keep nearby.
heat it up red/orange hot till it glows then quinch it in the oil before it cools down.

use a gas torch to heat it.
unless you can find something easier to get it hot enough

edit:well you dont have to use oil, water is fine

I think you'll find Rover ones are mild steel and won't heat treat. Once they're bent I would throw them away, as you'll not get them straight again, the material is already weakened and when you brake, they work in compression. If its already bent, it wil bend even easier again. We sleeve them with a high lift jack handle until you get home.

Get a new one, and a HD one at that.

Maxi-drive make HD ones...othewise get a standard one and sleeve the bastard.

i have neva herd of that one!

I straightened mine a couple of times then welded angle and flat to it. Not recommended. Held for a little while longer till I could afford a solid cromoly one.
