Air Con Woes

Note: I have done a search, but was unable to find what I wanted.
I went to get my air con re-gassed yesterday, but was told that there is something wrong with the system. As the guy is not an Auto-electrician he could not tell me what. But basically, it is not leaking, it is just not cooling.
Is this a common problem with F300's? What should I be looking out for?
Thanks!

More info needed- has it got gas in it (ie. did they check the low pressure switch?) Is the compressor cutting in at all?

Unfortunately I do not have answers to these questions (was an old german guy who did it for me - so communications was limited).
I will go somewhere else and ask them these questions

Well...had my first 36degree day for the year yesterday, which reminded me that my air con is still buggered.
Did some investigating and realised the following:
When I switch on the air con, I do not hear a click (like I do in any other car), and the engine idle stays the same.
So I am guessing that the switch is gone?, or am I thinking too simplistic?

If the system has no gas in it, the compressor (the click you hear and the reason the idle drops) will not cut in. If you have no gas in your AC (from the sounds of it you dont) then the compressor wont be cutting in when the AC button is on and the fan switched on.

yeah that sounds about right......
I believe that there is no gas in the system.
So all in all I think the best thing to do is go get gas in it, and then see if it clicks?

You can check the high and low pressure switches in the engine bay. In Aussie models they are near/ under the airfilter canister.

Do you know or have access to AC pressure gauges. I used to do heaps of AC in a previous job, might be able to help you if you can get some readings, or if its out of gass - get a re-gass and dye and see what happens.

ive changed my compressor cost me around Php 11,000 roughly $230 to fix my aircon woes, they convert it from R12 to R143A
clean the condenser, changed dryer, expansion valve
