Lower Gearing

I am in need of more crawl. My first low on LT 230 is a 52:1 with 4.75 CR&P.
I am considering MD 40% reduction gears or even more.
Does MD makes more than 40% redution gear and how much is it running for ?

has anyone fitted the ascroft underdrive or a dual transfer case on a Disco I?

thanks
Jay

hello jay,

Maxi-drive offer a 30% and 49% lower low range gear set.

This isn't low enough, Jay?

With those diff ratios I would be a very happy man. I'm only running 3.54:1 with 37" Crawlers and I am impressed with how low its still geared.

But hey...the MD 49% reduction would be nice too. Don't know how often I would use 1st gear with them though.

I think the underdrive would be better, but if you ever want a PTO winch...

With the rock crawling condition I am getting the Disco into no the 4.75 isn't low enough it is at 52:1 and with the ashcroft it will at 90:1 I am more concerned at loosing what I call the "momentum" gears needed for steep long climbs....
Best ostion I think is the 4.11 with the Aschcroft gears

But looking at the option available for the TOY low gearing it is so much more cheaper and very dissapointing....
