Hey i own a gen 3 1990 SR5 rigid front hilux. This time last year my dad and i converted the 2.8D to a 2000 model 1KZ-TE, the 3 Litre turbo diesel hilux motor and its matching R151 gearbox. Because of the gearing and 33" tyres it is a little sluggish climbing hills on the highway. Thus i want to fit an intercooler. However what is the best option:

water to air eg Denco.
Air to Air front mount
Air to Air top mount.

Has anyone here had any experience with these. Also any other suggestions on how to get more power out of this motor would be appreciated.

1. 3" Mandrel Bent free flowing exhaust.Needs a mufler cause the 4 cylinder sounds sh......!

2. Air - Water Intercooler .Denco or A.R.E

3. Rapid tunning module or better get the manual fuel pump from a 1kz-t so you can fuel it up.

4. Boost controller.

5. Bigger Turbo , I used a Toyota CT20 exhaust and Toyota CT26 Compressor.Don't get the standard high flowed as it runs a small diameter
shaft. The thing will fly to bits. The CT20 and CT26 have the larger shaft Diameter.

6. WARNING when doing all this fit a Pyro to check exhaust temps. You don't want a melt down.A boost gauge would also be handy.

All this does wake up the 3.0 litre but don't expect to much.

Next step is to fit a D4-D 3.0T , if diesel is your thing.

Cheers
