Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Was under the front of the Gu this arvo and noticed one of the adjusters on the 9 ways is missing altogether!! what remains is a black ?plastic plate screwed to the shock and a threaded hole of about 10mm. Doesnt seem to have been any fluid loss at all.

So... Am I rooted or are they replaceable?

There have been a few threads about this same problem...seems a little bit too common a thing.

Try a search on adj dogs and it should come up.

I thought you could adapt them to run with the Ratcho incab setup, if so, they would be removable, and replaceable.

yes. you can also use the rancho adjusters if they are easier to get your hands on. Opposite Lock stores should have the adjusters in stock.

you can use the rancho in-cab system or TD have their own bling digital in-cab system but it is $$$

I thought the tough dog and rancho incab adjusters were the same dollars. On the cruiser the rear shocks are prone to loosing the adjuster so I had them turned around so the adjuster faces out towards the tyre rather then in where the stick out like the proverbialbe dog balls, either way shouldn't cost more then a couple of bucks for a replacement

One of mines has snapped off on the rear. I decided one day that I would like to have them both set at the same rate around 4. So I set the one with the adjuster to 4 got an allen key removed the adjuster and put it on the shock with the damaged nob and set that to 4..

The rear shocks feel roughish... Would what I have done in some way shagged them? Should I go get the other adjuster from OL...

if the adjuster is taken off, the shock is set to '1'.

to give them a backyard test, take them out of the vehicle and mount the bottom (tube) end in a vice, extend the shock to half height, and push it down hard and fast, then let it go - try to 'bounce' it. if the shock is bad, it will shoot back up a little, if the shock is good, it will stop exactly where you stop pushing on it.

fully extend the shock and then push it all the way in, do it a few times, there should be no soft or hard spots in the travel, and you should not head any bubbling type sounds - a little, uniform hiss is ok.

obviously leaks and dents are bad.
