I have a question for the mechanically minded out there....
the rebuilt injected 4y in my toyota has started to blow a decent puff of smoke on start up and take off just recently and I'm trying to figure out why
I did a compression test today and the readings go 1150, 1070, 1150, 1030 and standard is 1225 so the rings seem aok
Its on dual fuel and does it on both too. What else could cause this

It goes in for a service Thurs so you get to see if you were right too
any help is appreciated. Mick

What colour is the smoke, blue, black or white?
Blue is oil & what you have described is typical of worn valve guide seals or valve guides.
Black is fuel & usually happens when the carby floods. These Y series of engines have problems starting when hot and blow black smoke.
White could either be water in the exahust which indicates a coolant leak or a leaking brake fluid master cylinder & the engine is drawing it into the inlet manifild to be burnt (ala Uncle Buck). These symptome aill be pretty severe & blow smoke most of the time so I doubt this will be the problem.
I hope this helps.

Check your water level in the radiator eveymorning to see if the level is dropping/or bubbles in the water once its running. mine blew white smoke on start up and i noticed the water level dropping slowly... then the head blew and it got expensive

Be a good chance to install some decent valves for the lpg and up the comp a bit at least

Sorry dood, didnt see the injected bit

Carbied or injected the black smoke symptoms are similar. Sounds like the head gasket is leaking but I wouldnt rule out the brake master cylinder, has it been using brake fluid?

no probs

dunno about the brake fluid I've only owned it a month or so. I'll check the level after work
