Feroza Goes Kaboom

Cant say im surprised, but the motor in my 93 Feroza let go last weekend.

Its been using oil since I bought it, went from full to nothing on the stick in one trip to fraser ! Just over a litre of oil! Was driving out to Mt Mee last Sunday arvo and it dropped a cylinder. Thought it was spark related and replaced the plugs and leads to no avail. Leads on these things aren't cheap at $139 less 20% !!!!

That did nothing so checked compression, 150 in the first 2 cylinders then number 3 didnt even move the gauge. Fux0red rings id imagine. Dropped it into my mechanic on Wednesday, should have it back Wednesday this week fully rebuilt.

Not really that concerned, it had sump leaks and possibly a rear main, was going to cost me a mint to get those fixed, half a rebuild cost just about. Probably going to be stung 2k-2.5k for the rebuild with a new clutch.

Only has 160 000km's on it, pretty weak really, I would expect a stock motor to have a longer life span then that, im starting to think my cars had a tough life.

Cheers
Brad

PS. Not happy, suspension lift fund has been added to the rebuild fund :(

sorry to hear about that, you do seem to have some bad luck with your newly purchased feroza.
you should get them to drop in a modded cam, port and polish..etc... :)

Ive found the Feroz'a stock motor's dont last much past 250,000kms. so im guessing your one had a HARD life.

Yeah im thinking it ran low on oil for much of its life. The previous owner insisted that it didnt have oil leaks as there was none on the ground. Leaks galore though when you actually get under it though.

Dont have enough spare crust to do engine mods at the moment, I really cant see it being that much better then stock anyway so I cant be bothered raising the extra funds and having it off the road any longer.

about 2 weeks after i bought my feroza it started leaking water and got hot. freaked me out when i checked the radiator and found oil, considering i bought this car to replace my old tx5 which i blew the motor in (on the way to sell it mind you).
Lucky for me it was only a bad engine flush job and the oil was from the heater element.
But was i PISSED when i saw the oil... almost thought about giving up on cars all together because they waste so much money.
Glad i didnt... really digging the feroza now,

Stick it out.. hopefully this will be the end of your troubles for a while.

Yeah thats what im hoping. Anything is allowed to blow up once. Twice its time for an insurance job.
