Has it got square headlights or round headlights?
round headlights - MQ
square headlights - MK
Though all in all they are the same car more or less from 1980 through to 1987.

Front shackles are different too, Mq's generally have straight shackles & Mk have offset shackles

mq for sure if it was an mk it would read K160

Nope, the designation is WRG160. The MQ-K is just a designation given for OZ as the government require it.
I have recently bought my first 4x4 an 83 nissan patrol built in the 11th month could you please tell me if it is a mq or not as it says it is a 160 series in the manual thanks
