Outer Limits 4x4 Board

I have a 2.4 diesel 83 lux, engines great (apart from the obvious lack of power) but it still gets me there. Inside the gearbox seems fine too, only problem is, I keep chewing out the bush on the bottom of the gearstick. First few times it did it, i just replaced the whole stick (with the bush in good order) from a corona or corolla from a similar year - whatever i could find at the time. Starting to get frustrating as it allows the stick to move from where 1st should be to where 5th would be (if i had it )

Anyone else had similar problems or heard of something similar? ...and preferably how to fix the damned thing.....
