Hey All
Ever since i had the new radiator put in my cruiser the air-con isnt getting cold! do u have to take the condensor off to remove the radiator? Is it possible that the radiator place bumped something causing it to lose the gas? the air-con compressor and everything still works everything is in operation just doesnt get cold. If it only needs re-gasing whats that worth?
Cheers Troy

The compressor shouldnt run if there isnt enough gas in the system, that said, they could have let some of the gas out making it run much less efficient.

look in the inspection glass is the dryer (bottle looking thing), if you can see bubbles flowing then there isn't enough gas. but before you do this run the aircon for a few minutes while driving.

the compressor has an electric clutch on the front of it which turns whenever the engine turns, however, the clutch is only engaged when A) theres enough gas in the system, B) the aircon is on.
have a look at the compressor you should be able to see if the actua; compressor is turning or if its just the clutch turning.
If it is running on old gas it can be hard to find a place that will regas it. If it needs to be converted to the new gas they have to change the inlet and outlet ports on the compressor and the filter dryer and then gas it up. This is about $240 i believe.
Just a regas is about $100 as already mentioned.
Finding the leak is a major pain. Mine was leaking on the high pressure line from the compressor to the condensor (infront of radiator). I have been told that this is the hose that fails most commonly as it is subjected to massive temperature fluctuations. The other hoses dont generally cause problems unless they are twisted and moved alot.
