ZD30 Temp Sensor...?

I've had a few problems with my 3ltr oil burner of late.

It has started to hunt at idle (from 800 to 1100 rpm) and loses power on occasions. The engine fault light comes on too (occasionally) and I have recovered the fault codes from the ECU and it seems that the temp sensor may be at fault.

Has anyone else had the same problem? If so can you confirm or dedunk the temp sensor theory?

According to the trusty Gregory's manual, I should test the resistance of the sensor at a set temp... I can't find details on what the resistance or the temp should be - again any ideas?

Thanks for any help guys.

just buy a new temp sender mate.

they are cheap (i think).

fords have big problems with these.

if the fault codes say its that then nothing can be done to make it work properly or efficiently.

the tests are usaully done with certain temp water and testing the 2 terminals and the reading is in 1000's of ohms.

mayb someone with a nissan manual will have the figuires of temp to the amount of resistance from it.

I've changed the sensor... still no joy. The engine fault code comes up again, the engine loses power and the idle hunts.

My next job will be to check the connections (probably with a megga to see if it breaks down under the higher voltage).

The temp gauge only comes up to normal (2/5ths), so I'm asuming that it isn't slow/blocked coolant flow.

As it so happens we're off to Tassie in two weeks for our next trip... maybe! Typical isn't it? Does anyone know if the Berima Diesel guys are good with the 3.0L engines (ie. the sensor sensitive engine!).
