The only real purpose of a damper that i know of is to stop violent retraction of the steering wheel when off roading, hense no broken thumbs or fingers. I would imagine that it would soften steering wheel shudder when front tyres are out of balance however the balance issue should be sorted out anyway!

I fitted up a spring center return one on my NL. It did make a big difference off road, very little on road.

Fitted a std one to my Paj and found a huge improvement traversing deep rutted tracks and rocky terrain. Worth the effort IMHO.

I have allways heard the they increase the chances of bending your center link, any truth to that?

I've had no worries in 2 years. Mines "U" bolted on in two places but it might slip a little under bending loads??
