Driveshafts

Hey,
just wondering as i understand the lux driveshaft will fit into a WT sierra bolt in. Is this correct? What is done with the transfer handbrake as the WT did not come with them.(I am guessing you can drill and put new studs in there.
If so, what are the lengths for the zook vs toy shafts if anyone has them around together. D/C and non D/C.
How much longer are the front shaft then the rear stock shafts?

early lux shafts have same pcd but the spigot is slightly bigger in dia, i had to machine mine to fit, as for lengths i cant remember mine were chopped. so what ya thinkin of doin?

Thanks for that bazooked, knew there would be something there.
I am thinking of getting a couple 1" driveshaft extensions done for the WT when i put the CJ springs will have more flex than std.
Just looking at options at the moment.
Will be running Cjs in rear and ruf ultimatly at the end.

looks like zook transfer drum and is that hilux mongrel.

Its a double cardon joint on a lux drive shaft theres not much difference between the spigot sizes of a zuk shaft and a lux shaft

droopypete: Did u alter the size of the pcd in the drum? as i understand there was no WT drum for the handbreak.

Mate, it was a bit complex to do it the way I did, but I think it looks better than other options.
first we faced the mounting surface of the drum then turned up a ring to mate the two diferent spigot sizes rotated the flange 45 degrees and redrilled the drum.
on all the others we just knocked the yolks off the shafts and turned the spigot down, the bolt size and patern is identicle

Cheers Pete, when u say the bolt size is identicle, is this for the hilux shafts as i though they were the same as the WT and not the NT shafts of which the drum is off.When u redrilled the drum did u use studs again or are bolts ok.
What is the reason for this spigot? Can this be ground down by grinder or similar or does this have to be on lathe.

When I said they were identicle, I was refering to the rest of the flanges on my wide track zook not the narrow track hand brake.
the Toyota spigot is 1mm (or there abouts) smaller that the w/t zook spigot (a bit more for a narrow track) and while you could get it to fit with the help of an agle grinder
every one (except maybe Guy
) would call you a butcher and it would shake like a dog shitting razor blades.
If I was to do the hand brake drum again I would make the adapter ring 6mm thick and tap threads into it so I could tighten the bolts down with the flange, leaving only studs to mount the flange on.

here is what i did to mine, makin it suit a 1310 series flange, redrilled the holes and machine the spigot bigger all is good.

i had to machine the centre out of my hilux dc. it was enclosed where the nut for the t-case flange sits and would bolt up with a 5mm space between the flanges.
so out with the centre, then i machined a collar to fit between both flanges.
the lux dc has a 1mm bigger locator than a wt from memory. its not smaller.
the older dc uses 8mm bolts too. not 10mm.

does any one know the length?
will i have to shorten the lux front shaft for my rear?

what springs r u using? and if the diffs are in stock posi u will have to shorten the front to fit in the rear.

I resemble that .. I would not use an angle grinder, takes way to long .. I reckon that you just sit em up flush and bolt it down tight ... eventually they will "wear in"

im moving the diff back about a inch and a half 2inch springs 2!
does any one know about how much slip they have?
