Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Hi All,

Have just got back from a 3 week trip to central Oz where i got one flat tyre. Managed to fix this with our repair kit as i could hear the air escaping when it was inflated which made it easy to spot the hole.

But now we're back i have a slow leak in another tyre. Even when its pumped right up i can't hear or see where the airs getting out. Its losing about 5 psi a day.

Can anyone tell me how to find the leak?

Got access to a pool, spa, creek or big tub of water? Easiest way is just submerge the wheel in the water, mark the spot with a grease pencil.

Just make sure to clean the wheel first if it's your own pool or spa

Check the valve just a bit of spit on it see if it bubbles or spray some dishwashind liquid and water round the rim bead if you ran your tyers at low presures you might have sand or mud in the bead

Any tyre shop will have a testing tank that will show up the leak instantly

Reseat your tire beads makingsure there isn't any sand there. I had this problem.

a mate had that problm aswel, he got 2 new valvs, went down to tyrepower, they took the tures off, cleaned the rim, put them back on ect... all with no problems.

this was at about 5min to 12 on a saturday, they close at 12, did it for him no worries, and didnt charge, or anything...

so i recomend tyrepower in rosebud vic. great service everytime i have been there, and iv only heard good stuff about them aswell.

All replies are sound. You can actually check the valve, bead and the whole tyre itself with a water/dishwashing liquid mix...

Also a really keen eye - if it's a nail or something it will still be there leaking. If it has come out, it won't leak too much, unless it's big of course. The other thing is to check your side walls.
