gday guys,

ive just finished school and looking to get ny first 4b in the next few months, my olds have had pajero's, cruiser's, a prado and even a musso (shudder) but my old man fell in love with pajero's and i must say i did like it.
im looking to get one from sort of 1992 onwards with preferbly lpg but i may add this later.

i will be needing a bigger 4b in uni to haul my mountain bike's, dog camping and rockclimbing gear and other stuff. what should i be looking for in the pajero apart from the obvious, like service history, rust and things like that.

the next bit is IFS will it be a real pain to me considering im only just getting into the 4x4 world and can always trade up or if i won lotto SAS it!

are parts relitivly cheap and easy to gain access to?
im looking to spend around a max of 8 grand.

i know this is a lot thanks guys

Tim

hey tim,

it all depends on what u wanna do, if it is just carrying round ur shite for the dog, rock climbing, mountain bikes and whatever else it would be ideal. and realistically once u have a 4WD ull get the bug and wanna do more stuff to it and climb bigger hills and so on, but iv only had my pajero for about 5 months now, and im in 2nd year of uni.

heaps of people are surprised as to how far the little jabber will go, mines a SWB so only two door and a little bit less room, but with added rampover angles, little bit better fuel economy and all the same parts as a LWB. i first had a barina, then a corolla, then i had my ricer stage and had a lancer, atleats it was a good one, and ill prob get another lancer soon, gsr or evo1,2,3 something along those lines, after im finihs3ed uni, but yeh for now i was over the ricer boy thing cos it cost just as much money but the more i spent the less i could get over speed humps, ahhah so i gave up and bought the little Pajero. i love it, been out driving pretty much atleast every fortnight and sometimes every week, its just good to have, heaps mroe room, versatility, and for me and my girlfriend we love camping big time, i love fishing, mtb riding, driving, and just gettin away so its perfect, plenty big enough for me and my girl, i personally wouldnt buy a LWB, but thats me, and as far a capability, with a little lift, 33s, lockers most people would be satisfied. most of the time people start with a bit of suspension lift, some body lift for bigger tyres, bigger tyres, and gearing and thats about good until they want to tackle bigger stuff. most would agree dont go about 2" body or suspension lift, though some have 3" body, dont go above 33"s tyres, some run 34" and 35" but tie rods and stuff start breaking, and yeh, read thorugh the pages on here mate, well worth the read.

PAJEROS

p.s - i payed 8500 for mine, 94 model NJ SWB Pajero GL, really good condition, no offroad work, well nothing extreme anyways, 190,000km, that was with about 600-700 dollars worth of brand new recovery gear and shit like that, but definitely 8000 is realistic, LWB seem to be way cheaper, but most have more kms, just learn about the history of the vehicle and ask questions and the less offroad work the better ;) until its urs

dean :D

for sure
