Outer Limits 4x4 Board

3 out of 4 of my tyres have leaked from between the tyre itself and the rim. two have been on the outside, and on the front, and one on the inside of the wheel on the back.

has happened when tyres pressures are between 8-14psi. the 2 front ones have had mud/sand/dirt in the bead causing it to not seal properly.

they are simex pedes, 31"s, on 15x8 rims. is there anyway i can stop this from happeneing every time i got out for a drive? i used to run my 31" MT/Rs down to about 10 with no problems on the same rims. and i have wire brushed the rims before the tyres were mounted.

so how do u put it on? do u take the tyre off, put the sikaflex, then reseat the tyre? or just fill it in between the rim and tyre?

Break the bead. With a highlift, place the tyre flat on the ground. Take the valve out and jack something up off the side wall of the tyre that’s lying on the ground. Run some sikaflex around the bead. Then reseat the bead. To reseat the bead just pump up the tire with any compressor. Wrap a rope or ratchet strap around the entire circumference of the tyre and tighten as much as possible, while adding air. You may need to give the side wall the occasional hit with a mallet to help it seat. Do Not put you fingers anywhere near a reseating bead.

I got tired of this happening, and have fitted the offending 2 front tyres with tubes, of the simex heavy duty type. no more probs.

I run between 8 and 10 psi, needing a bit less pressure on the tubed tyres for best result.

8" rims are too wide for a 10:50 in my opinion, causing damage to the beads more easily. But my rims came at a good price.
