Anyone Else Had Problems With 5.12Diff Gears
I have been having alot of trouble with my 5.12 diff gears. I have stripped 2 sets of CW&Ps and just wondering if anyone else is have problems. They are in a WT Sierra with twin lockers.
Any help would be appreciated.
Cheers Joel

Front or rear?
Are you getting a shop to set them up or are you setting them up yourself? I am aware that with lockers and plenty of traction, it is possible to put too much load on the pinion (just my theory) and this will collapse the crush sleeve, allowing the pinion to walk back and forward. Given time, this would cause .
I believe that CJZuki has had his crush sleeve replaced with a solid spacer and shims they should eliminate the problem.
I have come across a number of hard worked locker equipped suzuki's with loose/floaty pinions.

5.13 pinions (suzuki vitara) are too small and smash easy when shock loaded , i'm now using 4.6 vitara R&P's with bigger pinion tooth count..
think they come out of the vitarta 1600 16v auto model front diffs

HA HA remember joel i have broken a set (in a factory diff centre) and i dont do doughnuts on the road
Its the small pinion that does it IMHO, 8 tooth compared to 11 tooth in in a 3.7 centre.............
if ya smashing zook diffs, hilux diffs or anything else wont be strong enough. You must be driving like a real tool. Like anything, treat em with a little respect and they will last a lifetime. Many guys in our zook club drive with stockers with 31s or 33s and have no problems. Again it sounds like you stole it.
Calm down and drive it, allow the zook to crawl over the terrain instead of booting it everywhere.
The youth of today have no respect for anything and expect it to last forever.

Double gold!
I love this stuff. Of course you need rockwells and a chev to drive anything, especially mall.
We have members who manage to drive everything we think we need every bit of bling for with 1.0 diffs, 31's and lots of stock stuff.
This stuff about you should see the blah blah blah is pretty much always the talk of someone who want to justift all the time/money and HD parts they have bought/built. Just remember there is someone out there that can actually drive that can take near stock stuff that you or I couldn't drive up a gutter everywhere we need all the bling to go.
Be humble dude, you will get more respect than talking up all stuff you "need" hilux junk to drive.
What would i know, Ilm just in a suzuki club. all we do is mall and drive stuff with stock diffs.
Steve.

Meh, lux diffs, zook difs, nissan diffs, mog diffs, lockers, no locker, welded auto, air, factory, disel, petrol, turbo WHATEVER. drive what you feel comfortable with, but stop arguing and answer his goddam question or dont bother.
given the ration and the size the pinion gear is, the chances are you will be more likely to break it, also the additional torque will result in an added chance of cv brakeges. but I am sure you are well aware of this allready and maybe it is an excuse to upgrade to a stronger option?
Oh and it doesnt matter how much you argue, the truth is you still drive a zook
JOKE>>>>>before you all start sending me abusive pms lol
