my sierra wont turn off with the key. i have to stall it for the engine to stop. I also have to take the battery clamp off as all the lights stay on the dash. it starts fine and the imobb still works it seems fine. all fuses are also ok.

I have ideas of its the ignition relay staying on. Where is this located??

Any other ideas...

cheers

I had a fire in mine, and then it had the same problem, my fuse box melted a fair bit and so dit the relay next to it.
is that the relay your talking about?

my fire was from welding to the firewall. the sound deadening stuff went up!

I just parked it up and havn't fixed it, I retired it for spare parts. but it will be interesting to see if its an easy fix, so that I don't have to change wireing harnesses when I use that car again.

does your batery still charge?
I think mine stuffed up that too!

Battery still charges.

Not sure about the relay. I don't know where to start looking to find the relay. iether in the engine dept or firewall inside.

just a quick update.

its still there and does not turn off.

When turning the key to off position it turns off the internal stuff like the stereo/clock and the engine will continue to run. the immob will even set itself but will not kill motor but once stopped it will not start unless deactivated.

I have pullled fuses and also the two connectors under the dash pulled and lights stayed on.

Duncan: nope have not played with alternator, still orig one. I only played with park lights/indicators that day to get them working as i got a dead plug on that side of zook.

ok, it seems to be fixed for now, at least. Duncan was close, i moved the wires about a bit around the alt and coil side and then it is working again. i will have to redo some of the wires around those areas again when i get time.

cheers all
