U bolt flip kit

I climbed some rock steps yesterday, went home and checked this morning and found that i have sheared off a U bolt, and the one next to it is looking a bit sick. Any more wheeling and i reckon the axle tube would have parted ways with the spring
has anyone put one of these in their truck. Are they just as strong and secure as a factory set up.
how do you go about attatching shocks because the bottom plate is where the shock is attached, and bolting in on the top of the housing would halve the amount of shock travel.
is it something you can do without welding?
and do you think its worth it.
My truck is a 91 troopcarrier

Most U-Bolt flip kits are of stronger construction than the factory mounts.
Isn't your vehicle Spring Under Axle? If it is PM LJEXTREME and see if he can do some pics of his set up. Probably the best i've seen with a SPUA setup for clearance.
The easiest way to do your shocks is to buy the Snake racing mounts from BBM in Sydney. You will then need shocks with an eye mount at the bottom rather than the pin that you would have on yours.
Not sure on a cruiser but on a hilux you also need to do bump stops.
U-bolt flip does pick you up a fair bit of clearance under the diff on a SPOA vehicle.

Just for interest have a look at these:

I stumbled across them the other day. I would prefer the flip kit because you gain clearance but if you just want a bit of protection its not a bad idea.
