Alternator Output

Hi All,
Can anyone tell me how many amps a standard factory-fitted alternator will deliver on a 60 Series Cruiser?

My old beast is equipped with HF, UHF radios, spotties, fridge connections and a host of other electrical gizmos. I would like to know if it would greatly assist the batteries [24volt system] by increasing the alternator's power output and if so, what rating should the armature be 40, 60, 80 amps?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers mate............It's a diesel & I burn 600 watts but the batteries seem to take forever to fully recharge. You reckon a bigger alternator will solve the problem?

Let us know how you get on mate. I did put some stuff on this in the Bible, but it was a while ago. It is 55amps by the way. Joel. Post it up in the Toyota section once you've done it.

Definately...Only problem I see is that you probably have the vacuum pump on your alternator, so its not as easy as the petrol to swap them...
But I would be looking at going for 80amps with electronic regulator.
