anyone know what seats i can bolt directly to the old rails??
i can get some silvia seats for 20 bucks, but wondering if anyone had already done this, and what a decent alternative would be.
currently i have NO seats, so anything would be an upgrade lol.

Somewhere on one of the forums I think someone said that oldskool corolla seats might fit. I am not too sure on this but I will have a look on the weekend as I have both.

Well, while they aren't a straight bolt-in, I used Toy MR2 seats which are really nice, and not too wide. The drivers side is a simple, almost bolt in. For the passengers side I fabbed a frame out of steel 2x2. Two pieces front to back, with two pieces across mounted on top, I then bolted the seat to this frame. The drivers seat has a few plush areas like adjustable lumbar, adjustable sides, adjustable thigh height.
Both seats have five way adjustable headreasts, and recline.
Simple really. And has been certified.

Anyone used 96 corolla seats? I have a pair here that i can use, they have so much more support than the standard zook seats.

Has anyone ever tried putting RCI racing seats in a sierra?? think they should fit but would have to measure em up, if they will fit ill be getting them by next week. has anyone done this before??

whats the legalities with putting in new seats?
do they just have to be bolted in in four places or what?

i have access to falcon seats and yeh, can i just weld them in?

Seats have to be engineered.

Due to a careless wrecker ripping out the old drivers seat with a crowbar it has ripped the welded nuts on the rear drivers seat mount through the mount and looking a bit like a mess.

I was going to get some 70-75mm RHS or channnel and box the original units in and weld them up. then use a new bolt + nut/nyloc or weld new nut on underneath for seat bolting.

i was thinking of getting some 3mm wall for this as the orig is paper thin.

Mazda 121 (the model before the bubble and ford festivas (the one that looks like the 121 hatch) have some nice seats (might have to measure the rail)

They 2 doors so the passanger seat has a slide mechanism and a foot lever for the rear passanger to activat to get out

Quiet comfy and prob very cheap to buy

Be warned!! Years ago I had a hard top and put in some nice Gemini seats. Problem was I was flat out getting my legs between the seat and the steering wheel, so I put in a sports steering wheel (smaller diameter), this in turn made it a bitch to turn on trials and parking. Solution. Got old seats re-trimmed, sold steering wheel and Gemini seats for huge loss but now rich in hindsight!

honda prelude seat fit perfectly and are super suportive and comfy.No modifications needed

i got a set of saas dominators in mine, tight fit but very supportive.

had to get em plated in QLD, can't weld em in as a point of interest.

suzidisco you're saying that the honda prelude seats are a direct bolt in to your sierra mounts no cutting, bending, welding what so ever. What year prelude are they from? I'm looking for an easy swap with a good seat

That's the proper procedure according to the factory service manual

I would definitly be welding the nut on. You should even be able to tack a nyloc on there without melting it. Either that or use a centre punch to close in the nut slightly so it doesn't rattle loose. You will be hating pulling/installing the seats without captive nuts.

You could weld on a conelock nut (all steel high tensile lock nut).
A conelock is like a nylock but without nylon.
Also called a prevailing torque lock nut.

yes they do fit doozer had em in his old zook.
as far as i know though rci seats arnt legal

I have R1 racing seats in my zook and they were bolt straight on to the existing slide rail on the drivers side and the tilt forward rail on the passenger side.
