Having nearly completed my 4x4 (been of the road for 5 years) I'm wanting to know if there are more comps requiring trucks to have rego than those that do not , As i would like to start competing but dunno if im better off to build a buggy or a daily driver.

I think that rego is important at the moment. Give the unregistered stuff a few years and it should be good.
XRCC is the only comp that I know of that doesent need rego (although there are probably others??)

I agree, give it a couple more years. Unrego'd at the moment lets you drive one comp 3 times a year and that's it. You are also legally restricted to private property, and you can't out run the ranger who wants to book you in your 250:1 buggy like you can on a dirt bike. He'll just wait for you at your trailer anyways

I agree as well keep it registered there aren't enough comps or opertunities to drive the unreg buggies. I wish that even I had built a registered truck as I hardley get to drive the buggy.

How about I answer that one.
*Take the 44" tyres off it, put on 38.5" Tyres
*Take the wide offset wheels off it, Put on regular offset.
*Put the flares & Mud Flaps Back on it.
*Lock-out the rear steer for on road use.
*discussions with the engineer over a period of 6 months while building it to ensure all will be sweet.
*Hydraulic steering has speed limited my truck to 90Km/h ( so what, ha)
*Pay your rego & insurance & your set.
Don't forget people, The way you see most vehicles at competitions are in an illegal way shape or form, But competitions allow these changes.
For example, rego'd with 36" tyres, But runs 38" in the event. or even 44". This is allowed.
Wheel spacers are used very often, But are so illegal, it's funny.
Hope that answers your quetsions.
