Hi Guys,

I've just bought a TJ wrangler ('96 model) and am relatively new to 4WDing. Was wondering what you guys suggest as a good bullbar for that model?

Also, what are some good Sydney based Jeep specific clubs, or even some good clubs that aren't model specific?

Thanks

Well for clubs you can always contact the Sydney Jeep club, they are a top bunch of blokes and will help you out heaps!!

As for bullbar there are a few bars around or you could PM me as I run a small custom bumper business making bumpers for the TJ, we've only just started but happy to help out for what ever you need.

You could also try going to www.ausjeepoffroad.com as most of us Jeep guys hang arund the forum assosiated with that and there is a HEAP of knowledge there mate.

The ARB bullbar (lots of $$$) is probably the best but LEXX makes some excellent front bars. How's those rear bars coming along LEXX? I might have to order one from you shortly... :D :D :D

Do you plan to run a winch in the future? If so make sure you get a winch compatible bar now or one that will work in conjunction with a mounting plate.

If you are just after a bit of front protection or a change in looks - keep your eye on the for sale section on the Ausjeep BB. Quite often bars will come up second hand especially the factory twin tube style ones....usually in chrome for some reason :P

I have an ARB winch bar btw.

Thanks for the replies. I was wanting to attach a winch to it at some stage, so I'll be sure to check that it has the capacity for it when looking.

G'day maddog - I HIGHLY recommend you soend some time on AusJeep Forums & with the SJC to see & hear what works & get ideas for exactly what you want BEFORE you spend any money...there are several things you can do, then realise late it was a mistake & it will waste your hard earnt $$$

As for a bumper you need to decide firstly if you are going to have a winch, then what sort of winch as not all are completely compatable. Forexample getting a HiMount to work on must bumpers WILL take some fabrication or s sepcific mount.....Also you need to have a look at the variosu styles and decide what's right for you - of even if you might have a few ideas yourself get it custom made....
I personally have an ARB bumper which has been modified to fit a Highmount and have a few other "mods"...if I was starting from scratch again & knowing how I'd want to built my rig - I probably wouldn't get the ARB - but it IS a quality bumper.....

BTW IMHO the Tube bumpers are a waste of space - but that's just MY honest opinion....others like 'em.....some even like 'em in (ewwww) chrome ;)....

Factory failure, Steal whorse, Smitty Butt, - nah I PERSONALLY don't like ANY of those tubed bumpers......

I like the Toys by Troy, Challenger, and of course the Jbits bumpers.... ;)

If your just getting a Bull bar to be able to mount a winch you dont have to, you can just get a Warn whinch mounting bracket that sits on top of the standard bumper.
