centrre bearing need HELP

im trying to replace the cectre bearing un my 98 lux, im up to the part were you need to undo the big staked nut, ive un staked the nut, but cant the bastard to undo, is this a left or right hand thread, anyone got any ideas on how to remove it, ive got the flange secured in a vice but cant shift it, with a long bar and a hammer it keeps coming out of the vice
