Just something to be careful of... have you ever torn off a muffler or similar? If the pipe ends under the body it seems to make a lot of noise in the cabin. Must be something to do with the cabin tuned to a certain frequency or something, but in my experience it's LOUD. Prolly be OK for a ute to stop the pipe under the tray but i'd avoid doing the same on a wagon etc.
Can you kick the exhaust out the side or something? What vehicle r we talking about?

side exit is highly recommended on a soft top zook. you always get exhaust fumes getting sucked back forwards into the cab with a rear facing muffler.
