yep all i can think of is plugs or leads

sparks plugs dont cost much just try them first

well i jsut ripped all the leads out and checked the resistance of them and they range from 5000 ohms for the shortest up to 14000 for the longest.. sound about right?

You can not tell for sure by just using an ohm meter and checking resistance.

I had the same fault 3 weeks ago. check resistance and they were fine.

It is under high voltage / stress that it was jumping through the lead/plug tube part to the head.

I determined this by pulling each lead off one at atime and holding the long insulating tube piece accross the head (rotating it) untill I sore an acr jumping out of the side rather then coming out the metal end.

Something sounds sus there .... they should all be close to thesame id think...+\- a few thousand maybe.
4.5's get water in the dizzy cap easy aswell as in 3 and 4 plugholes.

Jus looked up manual I have and it says max resistance is 25000 ohms per lead. However I do know that resistance is directly proportional to length of conductor for a given conductor type. ie If a lead 30 cm long and has a resistance of 1000 ohms then a lead of 60 cm should have 2000 ohms. Twice the length = twice the resistance for a given conductor.

Well i thought i should post up on how i fixed this...

becasue the 80's spark plug leads are so damn expensive.. i decided to do the cheaper stuff first..

I replaced the
Plugs.. (didnt fix it)
then i repalced the fuel filter
dizzy cap and rotor button...

Now its all good :D
